Once the Create Stumpwork Sub-design function has been applied, the resulting stumpwork sub-design resides on a separate ‘layer’ to the base design. Stumpwork pieces can be edited as standalone designs. Required tools are listed above.
Select the stumpwork sub-design to edit.
Double-click selection or click Open Stumpwork Sub-design. The stumpwork sub-design opens in a separate design tab.
Edit borders via the CutWork Border docker – e.g. change embroidery type, add or remove stabilizing runs or cutting lines. See also Cutwork concepts.
Optionally, click the Object Properties icon to access additional settings for each included stumpwork component. Edit properties such as wire gauge, satin cover width and offsets.
Use the Cut Closed Border tool to create an opening for wire ends.
Digitize other objects as needed. Use the Digitize Wireline tool to insert wirelines for extra support and shape. See Digitize additional wirelines for details.
Sequence objects in the Color Film docker as necessary.
Use the Design > Background command to specify a fabric type if you are creating stumpwork with fabric and wire.
Close the design tab to return to the base design. You will be prompted as shown.
Alternatively, click Export Stumpwork Sub-design As if you want to save the stumpwork piece as a separate design file.
