To perform couching in combination with an embroidery design, follow this procedure...
1Create an embroidery design which outlines the pattern to sew with the couching.
Stitch data from the design file stops the machine when required for couching, and tells you what action to take.
2Manually replace the embroidery foot with the couching foot when needed.
3Thread the cord through the foot in preparation for stitching.
4Choose an embroidery thread to stitch the cord to the fabric – either a matching color, contrasting color, or see-through thread.
The machine stitches the design automatically, with the cord being fed through the couching foot, in shapes defined by the stitch pattern.
At the end of a section of couching, the machine stops so you can trim the cord.
An instruction is displayed on the machine as with appliqué.
5Manually switch the foot back to the normal embroidery foot again when couching is finished.
Relevant production information is recorded on the design worksheet:
Couching foot is required
Cord size and color
Length of cord required
The stop sequence shows when to start couching, trim couching, and end couching.
Be aware of potential registration gaps between the cord and the cover stitching. You need to use good stabilizers to minimize fabric movement.
